CASSAVA S2_2024
Enhancing Cassava Production - S2_2024
Summary: Cassava, the third-largest source of food carbohydrates in the tropics, is a vital staple for over half a billion people worldwide. Known for its drought tolerance and ability to grow on marginal soils, Nigeria is the leading producer, while Thailand dominates cassava starch exports. Cassava comes in sweet and bitter varieties, with both containing anti-nutritional factors and toxins. Proper preparation is crucial to avoid cyanide intoxication and other health risks. Farmers often prefer bitter varieties due to their pest-deterrent properties.
Objective: This campaign aims to raise funds for cassava cultivation, targeting improved production and food security in the developing world.
